چکیده

Abstract The present study aims at an integration of both petrographic and petrophysical data 45 sandstone samples collected from Araba Formation (Lower Paleozoic) for reservoir characterization. studied is classified into three types facies: (i) quartz arenite, (ii) sublithic (iii) calcareous arenite. mineralogical composition the includes mainly detrital clays, some pyrite, iron oxides as cement. investigation reveals various diagenetic processes including compaction pressure solution, cementation with oxides, carbonates, or clays. porosity values investigated range 14.5 to 27.8% permeability 2.4 mD 8.4 D, surface area per unit pore volume ( S por ) 0.011 17 µm −1 , formation factor 6 13, dimensionless volumetric magnetic susceptibility 13 10 −6 126 . facies are characterized by higher permeability. indicate increasing rising porosity. relationship between reflects effect changes. specific shows inverse investigations provide relationships other parameters such porosity, factor, surface, longitudinal transverse relaxation time resulting nuclear resonance (NMR) relaxometry. prediction model based on NMR proves be applicable (ii), whereas predictive quality considerably lower (iii).

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

A Case Study of a Fine Scale Integrated Geological, Geophysical, Petrophysical, and Reservoir Simulation Reservoir Characterization With Uncertainty Estimation

A novel method for the integration of multi-scale rock and fluid information was performed on a single well deep-water exploration discovery. The method integrates diverse data types through physically constrained models into a single earth model. Development scenarios were optimized through multiple flow simulations. The development scenarios were designed to investigate the range of uncertain...

The Prediction of the Tensile Strength of Sandstones from their petrographical properties using regression analysis and artificial neural network

This study investigates the correlations among the tensile strength, mineral composition, and textural features of twenty-ninesandstones from Kouzestan province. The regression analyses as well as artificial neural network (ANN) are also applied to evaluatethe correlations. The results of simple regression analyses show no correlation between mineralogical features and tensile strength.However,...

Association of the Flow Units with Facies Distribution, Depositional Sequences, and Diagenetic Features: Asmari Formation of the Cheshmeh-Khush Oil Field, SW Iran

The Oligo-miocene Asmari formation is one of the most important hydrocarbon reservoirs in the southwest of Iran. In order to evaluate reservoir quality and the factors controlling reservoir properties, detailed geological and petrophysical studies were carried out on 242 m of core samples from Asmari reservoir. This study is a part of a larger project that examines depositional history and rese...
